Aussie Expats Update – And What a Year it Was, A 2017 Recap

    December 31, 2017 /

There is never a better time than NYE to do a recap of the rapidly-fading year (this is mostly just an excuse for the fact I’ve been meaning to put this together for a while, and I’ve been neck deep in that damn politics essay… and also Christmas food), and this year has been such a doozy, that I thought it would be wrong to miss the chance to very quickly the incredible adventures we’ve had. January. We had a relaxed January, knowing that we were heading off on the trip of a lifetime in February, but managed to fit in some fun anyway. We had James’s eldest sister Amy…

Aussie Expats Update – Austin Adventures!

    December 19, 2017 /

Well, I’m a little late off the mark (my politics essay hasn’t just been calling my name, it’s been shouting it and cursing to boot), but here is a recap about our amazing trip to Austin last week! We’re incredibly lucky to have family in the US and to have the opportunity to catch up with them while we’re living over here. Bill and Laura live in Austin and took care of James during his second half-ironman in October when I was back in Australia; he was so enamoured with the city he insisted that we had to go down for another visit when I was back… and last week…

What I’ll Be When I Grow Up

    December 11, 2017 /

Jokes everyone, I’m grown up already and I’d argue that I have been for a while. If 26 isn’t grown-up, I don’t know what is! But, recently I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do when I finish uni… and the more I think about it, the more depressed I get. I have a little under twelve months before I finish my BA next October/November, and, not surprisingly, what in the world I’m going to do after that’s all ticked off has been on my mind. I’m not feeling great about it. When I started studying, I felt pretty strongly that I knew what I wanted to do when…

Aussie Expats Update – Diving Blue Hole!

    December 4, 2017 /

Well: Happy Monday everyone! I’m delighted to inform you all that you’re currently being addressed by a qualified Advanced Open Water diver: no big deal [DISCLAIMER: by this, I actually mean that it is a very big deal and I’m very, very cool]. James and I have just spent the weekend in Santa Rosa, New Mexico doing a series of dives with the excellent instructor crew from Bluewater Divers in OKC in order to qualify for our Advanced dive ticket. New Mexico isn’t really the first place most people think of when brainstorming locations to go scuba diving, but it happens to boast a pretty impressive natural well called Blue…
